FAQs
Which SmartVent system suits my house best?
One of the main factors is the age of your house:
Homes built pre-2003 will generally work well with Lite+, Positive3 or Positive Advance
Homes built from 2003 are generally a lot more airtight, which requires a system like the Balance or Synergy3
Is SmartVent helpful in newer homes?
Houses built from 2003 are usually a lot more airtight. If you’re having issues with condensation or maintaining a comfortable temperature, SmartVent is a good option to consider – but the installation is typically more challenging than in an older home and requires a more advanced system, like the Balance or Synergy3. During your free home assessment, we’ll give you our honest opinion on whether SmartVent is a good fit or if another home ventilation system might work better.
Is SmartVent useful in summer?
The SmartVent system can introduce cooler air to your home, making your living space more comfortable in warmer months. This is achieved by using outside air, rather than air within the roof cavity, with the addition of the Flexi Air Source add-on (only available with some systems).
Can SmartVent warm my home in winter?
SmartVent can help existing heat sources (like fireplaces) spread warmer air throughout your home. This is achieved with the addition of a Heat Transfer add-on (only available with some systems).
I’m on a tight budget. How can I reduce condensation and dampness?
Lite+ is the most cost-effective SmartVent system. It protects your house from dampness, mould and mildew, using temperature and humidity sensors to control moisture. If you’re on a tight budget, there are other ventilation options we can explore too – we’ll chat about the best options to suit your house and budget during your free home assessment.
Can we adjust our SmartVent to suit the season?
We’ll do a full setup of your SmartVent to suit your home, needs and preferences. When the installation is done, we’ll also run you through the basic settings to transfer between warm and cold seasons.
Is SmartVent noisy?
The fan can only be heard when running at high speed – and if your SmartVent system is operating at the correct settings and temperature, the fan system should consistently be running at a low to medium speed. Whenever possible, we mount the fans away from bedrooms, ideally above bathrooms or hallways, which also minimises noise.
Where will you install the controller and diffusers?
The wall controller will usually be installed in either your hallway or living room, depending on your home’s layout and the existing wiring you have in place. Diffusers will be installed within every bedroom and living room – wherever it best suits each room, without hindering performance.
How often will our SmartVent need a service?
For best performance, the filter in your SmartVent should be replaced annually. Usually, this is all that’s required in the way of servicing. Your SmartVent wall controller or app will alert you when its filter is due for a replacement, and we’ll give you a heads-up too. We charge $270 + GST for a filter replacement (including labour and a basic filter – advanced filters are available at an additional cost).

The process
1. Booking form
To get started, just fill out our booking form – this questionnaire gathers most of the information we’ll need to create your quote.
2. Home assessment
Once you’ve completed the booking form, we’ll be in touch within two business days to arrange a time for your free home assessment.
3. Quote
As soon as we’ve completed your home assessment and have all the details we need, we’ll pop together an obligation-free quote for you.
4. Installation
If you decide to go ahead, just accept the quote and we’ll get your installation scheduled. Depending on the scale of your job, installation usually takes 1-2 days.
5. Handover
We’ll set up your SmartVent system to suit your home, then run you through the basic settings so you can make adjustments as needed.
6. Servicing
For best performance, we recommend an annual service (which usually just involves a filter replacement). We’ll touch base to give you a heads-up when this is due.
